Founded by four graduates of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences brought together in a mission to provide Traditional Chinese Medicine to people that otherwise might not be able to afford it, Octagon Acupuncture was opened in 2009. We saw our first patients in a small studio clinic on 35th Avenue in Fruitvale. In 2011 we found a larger space in Temescal, the neighborhood we have called home ever since.

A lot has changed since then! The Kingfish pub was picked up and moved around the corner, two giant condo buildings and a Whole Foods sprouted up, while all of the founders raised their families, got extensive further training, and continued seeing patients. We were challenged to keep the doors open during the shut-down period of the pandemic, but managed to update our facilities and procedures to support people through that challenging time.

We believe that community also includes mentorship, and have all served as clinical and didactic faculty in post-secondary acupuncture programs in the area. Over the years, dozens of talented licensed acupuncturists have helped us fulfill our mission of providing safe, accessible, and effective Traditional Chinese Medicine to the people in our extended community. We are also proud to have given masters’ and doctoral level interns opportunities to shadow our advanced practitioners in a real world environment.
